Rick Malmgren - Studio Potter
I’ve been a potter for 50 years. The first 20 years I worked alone in my studio making functional pottery that I sold to galleries and craft shops in the mid-Atlantic region. In 1990 I was very fortunate to begin teaching ceramics, first at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, and a year later I started teaching at Anne Arundel Community College. I retired from teaching in 2019 and I've enjoyed continuing to work making a range of pottery in my personal studio for the past six years. This new phase allows me time to explore ideas that I never had a chance to before.
